Introduction to Grace the Multitasker

Hi, my name is Grace and I'm from Oklahoma City. My major is Advertising and my minor is Art. My favorite thing about my major is the mindset it's given me. Besides learning about the history, basic knowledge and skills I also think I've challenged my ethical opinions throughout the years. The best class I took last semester was Contemporary Problems in Advertising. It felt like a huge challenge at the time because I struggle with dyslexia but it taught me I can do anything I put my mind to. I currently live in Los Angeles and started a job in fashion public relations. I am currently a full-time online student and full-time employee. I've decided to really push myself this semester because my dreams are just as important as my responsibilities. My long term goal is to eventually become a celebrity stylist. I have one family dog. His name is Cino and he was named after the actor Al Pacino. He is a teacup Yorkie and weighs 5 pounds.

My favorite foods are endless but I am a terrible cook. When I'm at home my favorite thing to eat is pizza rolls but when I go to dinner I try to eat something new every time. My hobby is yoga! I try to jam my day packed full of school, work, and friends but like to spend at least one hour a day to focus on myself through yoga. I think if I had an extra day of fun I would stay in with friends and watch documentaries! I love learning about things but often get extremely frustrated and flustered when reading. I know this class is a lot of reading so I hope to be able to overcome my anxieties and have fun with this class and the writing!

  1. Hi Grace!

I admire your bravery for packing up everything and chasing your dreams! It was hard for me to even think about leaving home for undergrad, but I am looking to leave for law school. Any tips on how to push yourself to do some scary things?

I also like to load up my days.. weeks.. months, you name it. I am naturally a busy body, so staying busy keeps me happy. Sometimes I overdue the balance and begin to become burnt out on one thing.. which is usually working too many shifts.

Pizza rolls are classic, those and dino chicken nugs are the peak of my childhood! I also like to try new things, but when I frequent my favorite restaurants, it is hard to stray from my usual! I think yoga is a great way to exercise and be mindful. Without yoga, I think I would forget to take a moment and reflect about myself.

Best of luck this semester with your very full plate!

  2. Hi Grace! Wow all the way in LA, managing both school and work is so impressive! I am a big foodie as well! I love to try new foodies when I am out and will even ask the chef for the recipe if I loved the food item and want to attempt to make it at home. My family is so embarrassed sometimes, but I love getting new recipes and trying to make them myself. Sometime it comes out a disaster, but sometimes it turns out just right. I love yoga as well! That peace and calming feeling you experience after a good yoga session is just what I need sometimes to get through the week and tackle everything.

  3. Hi Gracie! Great job in all your goals this semester! Its awesome you're pushing your self even when you struggle with dyslexia, that is amazing! Full time student and worker is definitely a full plate! I was born in LA and moved to Oklahoma when I was young. I wish I could remember it but sadly I don't. Its awesome you got a job as fashion public relations. I hope to see your name in the future as a stylist for celebrities! Your pup is adorable by the way and the name is perfect! I have a great Dane named Belle and a German Shepard named Sam. One of my goals this year is to try yoga again, so if you have any tips I would greatly Appreciate it! Best wishes this semester and in all your future endeavors!

  4. Hi Grace!

Your determination and work ethic are very impressive. I did not actually know that anyone could be a full-time online student at OU, so that's good to know! Your dog is so cute, and he looks so happy in the picture. I can relate to the cooking problems! I never learned to cook anything until my sophomore year (when my freshman year meal plan ended, haha.) I learned how to cook chicken, rice, and vegetables, and that's what I meal prep pretty much every single week!

  5. Hi Grace!

Cino is so adorable! I've been around little Yorkies, and they're absolutely the sweetest dogs ever. I have a dog myself (a mix we rescued from a shelter), and I'm such an overprotective mom. Dogs are great creatures, and I'm glad we can have them in our lives. We don't deserve them.

Yoga sound so much fun. I'm a connoisseur of yoga pants, but I've never done yoga. I'll have to try it out.

  6. What a great major/minor combination, Grace! And I didn't even realize until reading this that you are actually living in LA: wow! That is so cool! I'm on the opposite coast, living in North Carolina (I'm here for family reasons, and I was so lucky that I could keep my job with OU even when I had to move here; yay for online!). And how adorable that your little Cino is named after Al Pacino! Maybe he can make a star appearance in some stories you write for this class. And thinking about fashion: nobody has done a fashion-inspired project for this class, but someone did a really cool fashion project with stories for the Indian Epics class... here's a link: Project Runway: Indian Epics Edition ... maybe that will inspire some storytelling ideas for you too! Meanwhile, enjoy LA!!! There must be something cool to do there all day, every day, and all night too!

  7. Hey Grace! First off, that dog is so cute! (and I'm not even a dog person!) My sister has a Morkie named Carter and I can really see the resemblance! I think your career choice is very cool and I bet you will get to meet a lot of famous people through your years! Good luck with your online studies and I hope I get to read more of your post!

  8. Hi Grace!

It's always amazing to see people love their major because of the abilities it gives them. I believe it's so important to cherish the good in what you do for a fulfilled life! I have a teacup Yorkie name Jackson, he's such a cutie. Jackson is an okay name but my love for Al Pacino makes me jealous I didn't name him Cino instead. I wish I could be in L.A., especially for fashion. Good luck in your studies and being a celebrity stylist!

  9. Hi Grace! Your dog is so cute! I also really admire your dedication to the work that you’re doing. I can imagine that working full time and going to school is a pretty huge challenge. Do you have any celebrities that you’d love to style or any fashion inspirations? I’d love to know! I’m looking forward to reading more from you! Best of luck to you this semester!

  10. Hi Grace!

It's so cool that you're living in Los Angeles, while also being a full-time online student and employee. That really is multitasking. I really respect your dedication to your career, and your determination to overcome the obstacles facing you. My mom has dyslexia, too, and she had a lot of trouble trying to get through med school, but if she was able to persevere and get through it, I know you can do this, too! Good luck this semester, I'm sure you'll do great!

Also, Cino is adorable and I would die for him.

  11. Hi Grace. From Oklahoma City to Los Angeles, that is impressive. I've never been to LA. How do you like doing online school full time? I attempted that once and failed miserably at it. I also didn't realize that Advertising was an option for one of the online degrees. I took an advertising class at UCO once. It was really interesting. Good luck with everything! Oh and by the way, your dog is just too cute!

  12. Hi Grace!

Wow I can imagine the frustration that reading must give you, but I'm so glad that you still enjoy learning! I think that watching documentaries is a great way to continue learning without the frustration of the written word. I'm super jealous that you live in California. I've been wanting to move out there for a while now, but I haven't found any good job opportunities out there yet. Also, Cino looks absolutely adorable! I wish you luck with your studies and career! I think that completely online classes in addition to a full time job sounds like it would be very stressful, but I think that you can do it!
