Aladdin I - Story source: The Arabian Nights' Entertainments by Andrew Lang

  • There was a son named Aladdin that had a poor tailor as a dad
  • One day Aladdin was approached by a magician that claimed to be his uncle
  • His mom made them dinner and the magician took Aladdin on a trade adventure 
  • Aladdin grew tired and tried to go home but the magician convinced him their was great fortune in the cave
  • He went to the cave as asked and found that the magician had tricked him to get him the fortune and then trapped him in the cave
  • Aladdin cried and prayed to the ring that the magician had forgotten he gave Aladdin
  • Out popped a giant genie

  • The genie granted him his wish to be out of the cave and Aladdin went him to tell his mom
  • She offered to sell the cotton she has spinned and he said he could sell the lamp for more money once he cleaned it
  • As he was trying to rub away the dirt the genie flew out and asked him what his wish was
  • He asked for food and came back with a glorious dinner
  • Aladdin saw the princess without her veil and fell in love
  • Aladdin told his mom to go to the king bring fruit and jewels and tell her he wants to get married
  • Aladdins mom did so and the GV told the king to wait three months so his son could bring her something even better
  • The king agreed and told Aladdin's mom to wait 3 months 
  • Aladdin found out two months later that the GV's son and princess were getting married and had the genie bring them to him
  • Aladdin removed the GV's son and told the princess her father had betrayed him but she is safe

  • The princess and the GV's son tried to explain what happened. but no one believed them. This continued for a few more nights until the GV's son said he'd rather not be married to her anymore if he keeps having to go through this
  • On the third month Aladdin's mom returned about him marrying the princess
  • The king agreed but said he must bring forty basins of gold brimful of jewels, carried by forty black slaves, led by as many white ones, splendidly dressed.
  • Aladdin rubbed the lamp and received everything he need to impress the king
  • The king granted Aladdin his wish and married the Princess

  • The magician heard that aladdin had escaped with the lamp and approached the princess while he was hunting as asked to exchange it for a new one. the princess gave it to him without know what it was and the magician rubbed the lamp and took the lamp, palace and princess with him. aladdin came back and the king said if he didn’t find the princess he’d behead her. Aladdin found the ring and asked the genie to take him to it

    • The princess and aladdin reunited and the princess put on her eat dress and went to trick the magician.

    • Aladdin and the princess went back to her dads castle and told him what had happened. however the magician had a brother that was out to get aladdin. he saw a woman and killed her in exchange for her clothes and looks. he came to trick the princess in disguise however the genie had told aladdin what was going on and killed the brother
